2021-2022 Season Update

In May, the Government of Ontario introduced a three-step Roadmap to Reopen plan. Within this plan, it is projected that indoor sports leagues will be able to resume in Stage 3 with restrictions. This has led to a lot of interest from our members wondering about what the TCHL programming will look like for the 2021-2022 season and when we will be able to get back on the ice. We have no idea as to how the season is going to look like now, however, we are hard at work to get the programming up and running.
Hockey Hopefully Returning to Thornhill in September 2021

The Greater Toronto Hockey League announced on Wednesday, May 19 return to play plans for the upcoming 2021-22 season. The Thornhill Community Hockey League is eager to get the kids back onto the ice in a safe and Covid free environment. With the Wednesday announcement from the GTHL, the goal of getting back onto the ice is looking positive for hockey this fall. TCHL remembers William Chan

William Chan passed away this week at the age of 58. William was a long-time fixture in the TCHL as his son Roger played in the house league for many years and including the 2003 Rebels Select team. William was a kind and decent man who always contributed an air of positivity to everyone he came in contact with. He coached many house league teams over the years and was on the Rebels coaching staff for the past four seasons. William also coached his daughter in the Markham-Stouffville Girls Hockey League. The TCHL and Slapshot Hockey School are pleased to offer online skills / fitness sessions. high-intensity athletic conditioning training for House League and Select players. Slapshot Hockey School unique intense athletic conditioning sessions will be based on high-intensity interval training along with functional fitness movements to enhance mobility, build speed, stamina and endurance on and off the ice.

Mayor Recognizes TCHL Volunteer
-- On Thursday, September 26th, 2019 our very own President, Julian Herzberg, was recognized for his significant contribution to the Thornhill Community Hockey League from the City of Markham at their Community Recognition Night. This award was presented by Mayor Frank Scarpitti to Julian for his outstanding generosity volunteering with the Thornhill Community Hockey League and for the positive impact in our community. Julian has been volunteering with the Thornhill Community Hockey League for 30 years and became president 14 years ago.He is still volunteering with us today. We want to thank Julian for all his hard work and dedication over the years!
