The Peewee Rebels completed a very successful tournament in Niagara Falls, New York on the weekend of January 22nd-24th. In the opening game, the Rebels defeated the Webster Cyclones 5-1. They followed that up win a 5-1 triumph over the Newmarket Redmen. In the final round robin game, the team played the Vaughan Rangers and came out with a well-earned 2-2 tie which gave the Rebels first place in their pool.
In the semifinals, the Rebels defeated the Amherst Knights by a score of 4-2 to set up a matchup in the finals with a dominant Ottawa Savages team. The Savages had outscored their previous opponents 30-2 as they amassed four straight wins. Despite being badly outshot, the Rebels received stellar goaltending and tied the game early in the third period before the Savages tallied two goals to win the title by a score of 4-2. The Rebels players played with heart and determination and should be congratulated on a great weekend of hockey.
